And that was if the film was a success, else it would mean he would have missed a carreer opportunity for a paycheck. On the other hand, Harry Potter, although a very successful book series already (even though the first movie is what gave it its worldwide success), could have trapped him into an Alec Guiness situation, overshadowing all his previously great roles. ![]() For an actor, being able to pull an important villan role in a potentially great remake of a classic movie, with heavy prostetics involved ? There's a chance for an oscar nomination somewhere and lots of cash garanted. Planet of the Apes was considered a classic, a remake made sense back in the day (quite a jump in movie production since the last one), it was a more or less supposed to be a garanteed hit by a good director. Tim Burton was one of the most popular filmmaker then, and generally praised as not simply being your "yesman hollywood guy". ![]() ![]() Let's put things back into context though.
